Rycristyx 20mg Tablets contain Simvastatin, a cholesterol-lowering medicine belonging to the HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor class.

Simvastatin works by inhibiting cholesterol synthesis in the liver and increasing the clearance of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol from the bloodstream.

Simvastatin 20mg is classified as moderate-intensity statin therapy and is prescribed for primary hyperlipidemia, elevated LDL cholesterol and certain inherited lipid disorders.

In appropriately selected high-risk patients, simvastatin treatment has demonstrated benefits in reducing cardiovascular events, including myocardial infarction and stroke.

Treatment is recommended alongside appropriate dietary changes, exercise and other cardiovascular risk-management measures.

Dosage & Administration

  • Amiodarone, amlodipine or ranolazine: Simvastatin should not exceed 20mg daily.

  • Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors, cyclosporine, gemfibrozil and danazol: Concomitant use is contraindicated.

  • Grapefruit juice: Avoid because it can increase simvastatin exposure and the risk of muscle injury.

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

Simvastatin may cause fetal harm. Treatment should generally be discontinued when pregnancy is recognized, with individualized specialist assessment in exceptional circumstances. Breastfeeding is not recommended during treatment.
