Description
Priulvi 40mg Tablets contain Telmisartan, a selective angiotensin II receptor blocker prescribed for managing hypertension.
Telmisartan blocks the effects of angiotensin II, helping relax blood vessels, reduce peripheral vascular resistance and lower blood pressure.
The 40mg strength is the standard recommended starting dose for most adults with hypertension under U.S. prescribing information.
Depending on the patient’s blood pressure response and individual clinical requirements, the physician may adjust the dosage.
Telmisartan is also used for cardiovascular risk reduction in selected high-risk adults unable to take ACE inhibitors, although the reference recommended dosage for this indication is 80mg once daily.

Dosage & Administration
The recommended adult starting dose for hypertension is 40mg once daily.
The usual maintenance range is 40–80mg once daily, depending on blood pressure response.
Most of the antihypertensive effect becomes apparent within two weeks, with maximum reduction generally achieved after approximately four weeks.
Telmisartan can be taken with or without food.
Possible Side Effects
Dizziness, headache, back pain, sinusitis, diarrhoea and low blood pressure. Changes in kidney function and elevated potassium may occur.
Contraindications & Precautions
Avoid during pregnancy. Do not use in patients with hypersensitivity to telmisartan or concurrently with aliskiren in patients with diabetes.
Use caution in patients with dehydration, kidney impairment, liver disorders or increased potassium levels.
NSAIDs, potassium supplements and certain other antihypertensive medicines may interact with telmisartan.
