Description

Elclura 40mg Tablets contain Rosuvastatin, a potent HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor used to reduce elevated LDL cholesterol and manage certain lipid disorders.

Rosuvastatin inhibits cholesterol synthesis in the liver and increases LDL cholesterol clearance from the bloodstream.

The 40mg strength is the highest standard adult dose in U.S. prescribing information and requires careful evaluation of the patient’s cardiovascular risk, cholesterol levels, kidney function, potential drug interactions, and susceptibility to muscle-related adverse effects.

In Asian patients, particular caution is necessary because rosuvastatin exposure may be increased. The 40mg strength should only be considered when the anticipated clinical benefit justifies the risks.

Indications: Selected patients with hypercholesterolemia or other approved lipid disorders requiring intensive LDL cholesterol reduction.

Dosage & Administration: Oral administration once daily only when specifically prescribed. Not suitable as a routine starting dose.

Precautions: Increased risk of myopathy and rhabdomyolysis, especially with higher doses, renal impairment, interacting medicines, and other predisposing conditions. Contraindicated in acute liver failure or decompensated cirrhosis.

Possible Side Effects: Muscle pain, headache, nausea, constipation, and abdominal discomfort. Serious muscle injury and liver-related adverse effects may occur.
